Ali & Brian were married this past Saturday in a beautiful ceremony at Saint Mary of the Hills in Milton, MA, with a reception following at the Milton Hoosic Club. As the last wedding I’ll be designing for before the arrival of Baby O, it was a little bittersweet creating the pieces for this celebration.
Ali had a very clear vision as to the overall look of their classic black & white winter wedding – understated New England elegance. Her bridal bouquet of white hydrangea featured a swath of dark centered anemones, as well as a bowtie wrap and charm to honor the memory of a dear friend. The guys sported black and white flannel pocket squares instead of floral boutonnieres. Luckily I managed to whip out my camera in time to capture their first look as they took photos at Milton Academy’s Straus Library before the ceremony. Always a sweet moment!
Personal touches were everywhere you turned at the Hoosic Club. Leather initials met guests in the foyer before they made their way to the escort card display. There guests received a post card that corresponded with the table they would be seated at. Each table was named for one of Boston’s popular neighborhoods. Guests were encouraged to write a message to the happy couple on the postcard and return it to the mailbox on their way out. A neat alternative to the traditional guest book.
The dining tables were draped in white linens with a black overlay. Silver chargers marked each place setting and were topped with carefully folded napkins containing a monogrammed menu card. A single white mum pom was tucked into each, completing the setting. White hydrangea heads in silver ceramic cylinders sat at the center of the tables surrounded by white votive candles.
Best wises to Ali & Brian!
