Last spring we had the pleasure of working with Jessica Harris of Alden Blair Events on a styled shoot in snowy Vermont. That collaboration has lead to many more and we are looking forward to working with Jess and her team on a few very special weddings this season. Seriously, these are going to be show stoppers. We can’t wait!
We recently asked Jess to answer a few questions about herself and her business…

How many years have you been in business? Alden Blair is three years old, but I’ve been planning weddings for seven years across New England and the Mid Atlantic.
What makes you stand out from other planners? My affinity for modern design infuses color and texture into classic elements, creating comfortable and inviting atmosphere. Think of it as Kate Spade meets Martha’s Vineyard. It is what I love most about my work and why I love finding the perfect detail elements for each of my couples.
What's your favorite part of the work? Collaborating with exceptional wedding professionals is the best part of my business. Each client has a different need, so knowing the best vendors in New England allows me to create weddings as diverse as industrial chic and vintage glam.
What are the trends that you are seeing for 2012 weddings? I’m seeing more vignettes, or scene-setting displays that set the tone and style of the wedding. In fact, one of my couples is working with Kristin and Pam to develop an elaborate escort card display that will be the first thing guests see as they enter the event space. I can’t wait to see the final product!
What's the single best piece of advice you can impart to a newly engaged couple (without giving away all your secrets): Enjoy every moment of your engagement! When planning the wedding becomes a chore, get help – a wedding planner is a solid investment in your happiness.
Pricing Information: Our service packages start at $1500, with fees based on the services booked. Many of our clients book our Partial Design and Coordination package, in which we consult on all aspects of the wedding and take over the reigns starting one month before the wedding. We’ve found this is a great way to create the style each couple is looking for.
If you have any spare time, how do you spend it? Or some other personal tid-bit you don't mind sharing. In February I had a daughter, Cece, so she takes over the majority of my spare time. But when Cece and I aren’t out for a run, I love finding inspiration at the flower market or while window shopping.
