Think Spring – Flowers for the Winter-Weary Soul

 Spring flowers - daffodils

It’s cold, snowy (depending on where you are), and rainy.  Again.  I love winter (yes, I can hear your “boos”), but when I’m cooped up in the house with a grumpy dog and active 11 month old, I can’t help but pine for the spring air and a snow bank free park they could both run around in.

Instead of just imagining the delights those magically warm and sunny days, I thought I’d create a post of my favorite spring flowers.  The market is bursting with the early bird blooms these days and our trips there are good for the winter-weary soul.  Since not all are so lucky, here’s bit bit of distraction for you on this raw day.  Maybe if we all stare at them long enough and wish really, really hard, spring will get here faster?  Here’s hoping…

Baby Shower

We had to share this oh-so-cute baby shower arrangement!  Little Caroline has been born into a family full of farmers, so Pam came up with an absolutely adorable way to integrate an arrangement and this farm play-set.

We also provided a few containers that were to hold chocolate lollipops.  White spider mums and carnations in rustic boxes created a base to “pop” the treats into (sorry, couldn’t help myself).  The wooden boxes with chalkboard inserts were the perfect rustic compliment to the barnyard theme.

Congratulations to proud parents LeAnna & Mike!  It’s always such a pleasure to participate in the continued celebrations of our bridal couples!

Erika & Bill’s Wedding at the Essex Conference Center

I thought I was a details person…then I met Erika.  This woman blows us all away!  She came to us with a “woodland soiree meets Fantastic Mr. Fox theme” and we loved it.  From finding an up-and-coming artist to custom design the invitations (and the table numbers), to collecting unique whiskey bottles for the cocktail tables, to the playful photo booth that fit the theme, and much, much more, every aspect of Erika and Bill’s wedding was thoughtfully planned and executed to a “t”.  Style Me Pretty thought so too.  This wedding was all about texture, rich jewel tones, vintage items and whimsical accents.

thanks to Tyra Bleek for all the great photos!

Erika’s requirement for her bouquet was that in be alive with different textures.  Seasonal dahlias were combined with ferns, pops of orange ranunculus, various greens and botanicals, as well as curly willow looped throughout.  We securely fastened her grandmother’s rings to the wrap with a length of twine for an extra special touch.

Her maids carried gathered bouquets with similar ingredients, as well as one unique element: sunflower centers.

Bill’s bout had a trio of acorns (real, for the record!) and botanicals for a very rustic and textured look.

The littlest attendants were decked out as well.  The dapper ring bearer carried a burlap pillow (made by the bride) with a cluster of flowers on top.  How adorable are the flower girls with their floral hair wreaths?

Deep red petals blanketed the aisle.

Pomanders of purple mums and trailing wine-colored ribbon marked the ceremony seating.

Following the ceremony, Erika traded her stunning veil in for a whimsical floral hair wreath.  Design to sit off-center, a burst of mums and freesia was entwined on a headband of green ivy and delicate pearls strung on gold wire.

The long dining tables featured a total of nine completely unique centerpieces comprised of vintage rentals from our stores.  Each sat on a moss mat as a way to invite the forest into the celebration.

More of our unique rental items could be spotted throughout the event.

Fresh flowers were added to the cake by yours truly.  This was one of the amazing table markers I mentioned.

Boston Uplights strung flickering votives above each table and we popped blooms in every other one to bring the color from the table up.
